One of the places I wanted to get some B-roll for my documentary was Pat's Bar near the docks in Belfast. This
is where John Rea and many other Irish Traditional musicians have played in sessions. We were glad to get there this
year to get the video footage and to take acouple of pictures since the building Pat's Bar is in will be torn down to
make way for modern apartments and two modern bars - some people call it progress, but it looks more like complete
disregard for their culture, not something too terribly foreign to the U.S., either. We got some shots of the Bar and
of the harbour today. The bar is only a block or so from the docks, so it would have been a relatively short walk for
John Rea to visit Pat's Bar, which he seemed to have done frequently.
